Suspended in Reflections è il quinto album del combo prog/post-rock losangelino Ancestors, che arriva a sei anni di distanza da In Dreams and Time. Dall’album, in uscita il 24 agosto per Pelagic Records, sono stati estratti i due brani “The Warm Glow” e “Gone”; da quest’ultimo è stato tratto un videoclip presentato oggi in anteprima per Grind On The Road.
Così la band commenta il lavoro:
“Questo video è stato girato perlopiù nella remota California del Sud, fuori Victorville. È stato girato ed editato dal mio amico Brian Sowell, che suona nella mia altra band Deth Crux e nella band doom/sludge Buried At Sea. Protagonisti sono il mio amico Mike e la mia ragazza Sarah. Abbiamo portato i miei mobili lì per il soggiorno e dato fuoco al mio vecchio divano. L’idea generale del video era di tradurre alcune immagini di sogni/visioni che suscitano forti emozioni in me e che collego alla canzone, direttamente o indirettamente, nel senso che suscitano le stesse emozioni. Volevo legarle insieme in un modo che avesse abbastanza senso da non distrarre, ma in modo da rendere fuori portata una narrativa diretta, con l’intento che lo spettatore venga forzato a concentrarsi più sull’immaginario e le emozioni presentate.”

Los Angeles’ Ancestors create mighty, modern music that dovetails slow, heavy riffs and atmospheric, melodic instrumental passages, exuding a deep sense of melancholy. Six years have passed since the band’s previous album, In Dreams and Time, which came at a transitional and difficult time in each of the band members’ lives. In those six years, the band has slimmed down from a 5-piece to a 3-piece, also adding drummer (Daniel Pouliot of Horse The Band and ex-Silver Snakes) to their ranks. This lineup has consciously taken their time in writing their 5th album. It was surely worth the wait: „Suspended in Reflections“ is a culmination of everything the band have accomplished thus far. It feels like Ancestors have finally arrived at their own, right place.
Today Grind On The Road features the premiere of “Gone” official videoclip. The track is taken from Suspended in Reflections, due to be released on August 24th by Pelagic Records.
