I noise rocker norvegesi Årabrot pubblicheranno un nuovo album, ancora non annunciato, questa estate per Pelagic Records. Nel frattempo i Nostri presentano, in anteprima per Grind On The Road, il nuovo brano “Sinnerman”, singolo pubblicato in occasione del Record Store Day.
Questo il commento del mastermind Kjetil Nernes:
“Il vecchio blues, i menestrelli in abiti logori, i cori dei prigionieri, il gospel, le profonde radici della musica folk e country si sono incanalate tramite generazioni di sangue e sudore, amore e odio di proporzioni bibliche. Questa è una parte essenziale della più grande arte. Che sia essa musica, letteratura o anche cinema. Ho guardato il documentario su Nina Simone una sera e sono stato profondamente toccato dalla sua versione di “Sinnerman”. Qualche giorno dopo ho provato una versione diversa del brano nel nostro studio e aveva un coraggio che ho apprezzato molto. L’abbiamo provata di nuovo qualche tempo dopo e quella particolare vibrazione era ancora lì. Non avevo piani per la canzone, non avevo idea se fosse buona o no. Non ero neanche sicuro che l’avremmo inclusa nell’album. E mi sbagliavo.”

New album by Norwegian noise rockers Årabrot will be released via Pelagic Records this summer (not announced yet!) and today we feature “Sinnerman” as a first track, which will actually be a Single Record Store Day Only Release. Main man Kjetil Nernes says:
“Old blues, the minstrels in dirty suits, the chaingang choirs, the gospels, the deep roots of folk and country music channeled through generations of blood and sweat, the love and hate of biblical proportions. This is all such a pivotal part of the greatest art. That being literature, music or even film. I watched the Nina Simone documentary one night and was deeply moved by her version of Sinnerman. A few days later I tried a different take of the song in our studio and it had a nerve I quite enjoyed. We tried it again some time later and that particular vibe was still there. I had no plan for the song at all, no idea if it actually was good or not. I wasn’t even sure it would be included on the album. Boy was I wrong.”
