I noise rocker tedeschi/australiani Heads. pubblicheranno il nuovo album Collider il prossimo 6 aprile per This Charming Man Records. I dieci brani che lo compongono portano un’atmosfera di rabbia controllata e maturità, grazie a un’oscura narrazione che continua a risuonare e lascia l’ascoltatore a riflettere. Collider suona come una scarpinata tra terre inospitali, con ogni brano che inizia come se fosse sempre stato là, e tu, semplicemente, cammini dentro la musica a distanza d’orecchio.
“Urges” è il primo estratto da Collider (pre-order qui), da oggi ascoltabile in anteprima per Grind On The Road. Questo il commento della band:
“L’idea iniziale per “Urges” ci è venuta dopo aver suonato in stanze con grandi riverberi in Europa negli ultimi due anni. Volevamo scrivere una canzone che evidenziasse questi echi, suonare e godere della risonanza creata tra gli spazi nella musica. Le parole mi sono venute mentre camminavo per una Berlino particolarmente oscura verso le tre di notte. Mi trovavo all’ingresso di una casa per proteggermi dalla pioggia e ho abbozzato il testo prima che svanisse. Essenzialmente, il brano parla dei ripetuti sbagli ed errori che facciamo in quanto umani, le cose che vogliamo cambiare ma non siamo capaci di farlo.”
Avendo i propri membri sparsi per il globo, la band ha corretto il modo di comporre e registrare per soddisfare programmazione dei lavori ed estese visite familiari. In più, a Collider ha collaborato una folta schiera di ospiti che hanno arricchito e rinfrescato il suono del disco: Kevin Whitley dei leggendari noise rocker statunitensi Cherubs affianca la band in “Smile”, mentre Luc Hess (Kunz, Closet Disco Queen, ex-The Ocean) presta il suo incredibile drumming in “Youth” e “To Call and Let It Ring”. Emilie Zoë (solista, Autisti) e Fabian Bremer (Radare) portano le qualità ammalianti della propria musica in “Wolves at the Door”. Tutto ciò è tenuto insieme dall’impeccabile mix e mastering di Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna).

With Collider the German-Australian trio evade all the pitfalls of the sophomore slump. These ten songs carry an atmosphere of restrained anger and maturity, capturing a somber narrative that continues to resonate and leave the listener pondering. Collider listens like a trudge through inhospitable badlands with each song starting as if it was always there, and you just walk into the music at hearing distance.
Today Grind On The Road premieres new track “Urges”. The band comments:
“The initial idea for Urges came to us after we played some big reverb heavy rooms in Europe over the last couple of years. We wanted to write a song that would highlight these echoes, to turn up and play and enjoy the resonance that’s created within the spaces in the music. The words came to me while walking through a particularly dark Berlin about 3am one night. I stood in a doorway out of the rain and scribbled down the lyrics before they were gone. Essentially, the song is about the repeated errors and mistakes we make as humans, the things we want to change but aren’t able to.”
Having members spread out over the globe, the band adjusted their writing and recording process to accommodate work schedules and extended family visits. On top of this, Collider features a whole string of guest musicians who infuse the record with extra fresh sounds. Kevin Whitley from legendary US noise rockers Cherubs joins the band on ‘Smile’, while Luc Hess (Kunz + Closet Disco Queen + ex-The Ocean) lends his incredible drumming to ‘Youth’ and ‘To Call and Let It Ring’. Emilie Zoë (solo + Autisti) and Fabian Bremer (Radare + graphic design) bring the haunting qualities of their musicianship to ‘Wolves at the Door’. All of this is held together by an impeccable mix and mastering of the one-and-only Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna).
