Grind On The Road presenta in anteprima il nuovo videoclip del combo prog/post-metal svizzero Abraham per il brano “Silent At Last”, estratto dal nuovo album Look, Here Comes the Dark! in uscita l’11 maggio per Pelagic Records.
L’album, il terzo nella discografia della band precedentemente nota come Le Baron Vampire, è un concept post-apocalittico che narra della scomparsa di ogni forma di vita dalla Terra, ed è diviso in quattro sezioni tra loro differenti per songwriting, stile, grado di sperimentazione, scelta della strumentazione e suono: non a caso, il produttore Magnus Lindberg (Cult Of Luna) ha lavorato le quattro parti come se fossero album differenti. Questo il commento della band sulla genesi dell’album e sul brano “Silent At Last”:
“Abbiamo scritto un disco che alla fine è diventato un doppio album. Sì, sono quasi due ore di musica. D’ora in poi potrai scegliere tra due attività serali: guardare un film o ascoltare il nostro nuovo disco. Fai la seconda, per favore.
L’album è diviso in quattro parti (una per ogni vinile, se ti capita di averli tra le mani). Queste parti descrivono quattro ere consecutive nel corso delle quali è narrata la storia della scomparsa di ogni forma di vita dalla Terra. La prima parte si concentra sul collasso della civilizzazione umana e dell’incauto fervore tecnologico in cui ci troviamo. Ciò è arrivato a un punto tale che anche i nostri piani per il video di “Wonderful World” sono collassati…
Tratta dalla seconda parte, “Silent at Last” ritrae la forza irrefrenabile della vegetazione che ricopre ogni traccia di umanità e divora la vita animale con brame carnivore. Volevamo trasmettere un senso di soffocamento, o di paura, o di sentirsi prede. L’inquietante video di Augustin ha reso ciò alla perfezione.
Fino a un certo punto, il titolo di lavorazione di questo brano era “Beneficient Clearing”. Alla fine è diventato molto più maligno…”

Grind On The Road premieres new videoclip by Swiss prog/post-metal band Abraham. The song “Silent at Last” is taken by their new album Look, Here Comes The Dark! to be released on May, 11th by Pelagic Records.
The album is divided into four consecutive periods, one for each vinyl record, throughout which the story of the disappearance of all life on Earth is told. Each section is defined by a unique approach in terms of style, songwriting, degree of experimentation and choice of instrumentation. Producer Magnus Lindberg from Cult Of Luna has taken an approach that honors each part’s own integrity and identity, and mixed the drums, guitars, synths, vocals diferently for each part, as if they were independent records. The band comments:
“So we wrote a record that eventually became a double-album. Yes, that’s almost two full hours of music. From now on you will be able to chose between two evening activities: watching a movie or listening to our record. Please do the latter.
The record is divided into four parts (one per vinyl if you happen to put your hands on those). These parts describe four consecutive eras throughout which the story of the disappearance of all life on Earth is told. The first part focuses on the collapse of human civilization and the headlong technological rush we’re currently in. This went to such a point that even our plans for a video for “Wonderful World” collapsed…
Taken from the second part, “Silent at Last” depicts the overwhelming strength of vegetation as it overgrows all traces of humankind and devours all animal life with carnivorous lust We wanted to convey a sense of suffocation, of fear, of being hunted. Augustin’s haunting video captured this perfectly.
At some point, this song’s working title was the “Beneficient Clearing”. Turned out to be rather a malevolent one…”
