I pesi massimi del technical death metal europeo Obscura hanno annunciato di aver portato a termine le registrazioni del nuovo album Diluvium, che sarà pubblicato la prossima estate per Relapse Records. Questo il commento del chitarrista e vocalist Steffen Kummerer:
“Our new album Diluvium finally marks the end of Obscura’s four album circle we started around ten years ago when we wrote Cosmogenesis, followed by Omnivium and Akroasis in recent years. With Rafael Trujillo, Linus Klausenitzer, Sebastian Lanser and myself participating as equal songwriting contributors, the record turned out diverse, progressive and colorful in every possible way. We can’t wait to share the final piece of this long running four-album-concept with you and look forward to the album release along with extensive touring throughout 2018.”
L’album, registrato dal produttore V. Satura (Pestilence, Triptykon) al Woodshed Studio di Landshut, Germania, vede la partecipazione di diversi ospiti, tra cui il professore Ulf Klausenitzer, padre del bassista Linus Klausenitzer, che ha lavorato in passato come violinista e direttore d’orchestra con musicisti rinomati come Arvo Pärt, Karl-Heinz Stockhausen, Mikis Theodorakis, Daniel Barenboim, Christian Thielemann, Pierre Boulez. Tra gli ospiti sarà presente anche Jonas Baumgartl, membro fondatore della band, batterista e violoncellista nel demo Illegimitation e nel debut album Retribution.
La band sarà impegnata sul fronte live sin dagli inizi del 2018: dall’1 al 5 febbraio con la crociera 7000 Tons of Metal insieme ai compagni di label Exhumed, a partire dal 26 febbraio con un tour europeo di ventisei date insieme a Sepultura. Goatwhore e Fit For An Autopsy, in seguito con un mini-tour giapponese da headliner di tre date. Il 30 aprile, inoltre, la band celebrerà i 15 anni di attività con uno show all’Alte Kanserne di Landshut. Di seguito tutte le date europee:
